Diagnose, treat and dispense medication.
Assess, diagnose and treat emergent and chronic psychiatric and substance abuse-related disorders, including crisis intervention.
RequirementsPractice psychiatry in a community mental health delivery system.
Communicate with primary care physicians regarding the mental health status of referred patients.
Provide consultation to primary care physicians and other mental/behavioral health staff.
Maintains adequate documentation of all patients seen, including follow-up and referral in the electronic medical record.
Assures quality and safety by a care planning process, evidence-based medicine, and active participation of patients in decision-making.
Meets with the Medical Director or Psychiatrist regularly to review charting and medical and psychiatry care provided.
Manages the stable phases of chronic physical and mental illnesses in consultation with the psychiatrist or Medical Director as needed.
Orders and interprets laboratory reports and diagnostic imaging reports--coordinates health and mental health management with physicians and other agencies.
EducationCurrent unrestricted Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner License and Board Certification through the American Nurses Credentialing CenterCurrent DEA licenseActiveFlorida Licence preferredCA License Psychiatric Board CertificationExperienceKids and adolescents preferredAt least two years of experience with psychotropic medication management is required.
